NON HO BISOGNO DI TE
Non ho bisogno di te, is a graphic novel which deals with themes such as abandonment, problematic parental relationships and the need of feeling close to someone. This is one of three projects that I've pitched during the pandemic and that are now being developed.
I pitched, wrote and edited this graphic novel, which is currently being illustrated. Non ho bisogno di te is a deep and personal story about a woman's trip through the entire Italian peninsula. It narrates the ambivalent relationship between a lumbering father and his daughter pursuing her own devices.
The plot moves freely between past and present, painting with colourful strokes the memories of a man while confronting the woman's harsh and mysterious reality of the present. The challenge here was to create a character, the father, that was both a mythical figure and a strange, broken man while balancing it with a female lead, the daughter, who struggles to understand him and to find the necessary strength to forgive his absence.
