AMOR
Amor is a graphic novel that deals with themes such as adoption, cultural integration and migratory movements. This is one of three projects that I've pitched during the pandemic and that are now being developed.
For Amor, I wrote the original synopsis, and the script, dealing with challenges such as successfully pitching a silent book and managing a larger-than-usual team of creatives. My work revolved around designing and conceptualizing a double-sided book with two different art styles, that meet in the centre of the story. This served as a symbol of reunification for the characters involved in the story while also suggesting an artistic communion among the authors of the book.
The story is completely silent and the main themes are adoption, cultural integration and inclusion. The arc is simple and powerful: two young Kenyan siblings see each other for the first time after 10 years since they were successfully adopted by different families. We can see Rome through their eyes and discover a city of both wonders and critical prejudice. At the same time, the idea and hope of a diverse and globalized Italy are poignant for the story, the characters and the final message.
